Glen Run: Hiking, biking in Stroudsburg’s backyard

There are many surprises in the 182 acres of Glen Run Nature Preserve in south Stroudsburg, Pa.
During a guided hike on Saturday, Nov. 16, sponsored by Brodhead Watershed Association, participants will discover these delights for themselves.
Four miles of trails offer invigorating hikes, exciting switchbacks for mountain bikers (helpfully maintained by Pocono Bike Club along with preserve owner Pocono Heritage Land Trust), a small lake, the remnants of a Victorian mansion, and a forested cliff that provides mile-long views.
The land, once earmarked for a housing development, has so much to offer someone looking for a few surprises outside.
