The Pennsylvania Environmental Council is at the forefront of leading a four-state coalition working to complete and connect a 1,450-mile network of multi-use trails. Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority

The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail is a storied route that stretches more than 70 miles including the D&H Rail-Trail. These trails are located amid the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the waters of the Lackawanna River. Traveling the trails take you through 30 historic communities throughout Luzerne, Lackawanna, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties and is worth a trip

Rail-Trail Council of Northeast PA

The RTC is working diligently to preserve and adapt the abandoned railbeds of Northeast PA. To date, RTC has acquired 38 miles of the historic Delaware & Hudson railbed, an easement of eight miles of the Ontario & Western railbed, and the 10-mile Endless Mountains Trail. Enjoy year round fun when you visit these trails to walk, run, cycle, cross country ski, snowshoe and more.

Anthracite Scenic Trails Association

ASTA is a non-profit, all-volunteer group that supports the Back Mountain Trail (BMT), part of the 900 miles of rail trail in Pennsylvania. The BMT cuts through scenic woodlands, complete with a meandering creek, a pretty waterfall, and open fields of flowers. Be sure to visit the most recent addition to the trail, the David and Judy Rimple Loop Trail.

Countryside Conservancy

Countryside Conservancy manages 510 acres of lands and waters which feature a variety of trails in Lackawanna, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties. Be sure to visit one of their many preserves for new trails to get moving on but don’t forget the Conservancy’s Trolley Trail, converted from the long abandoned Northern Electric Trolley Corridor into a non-motorized recreational path.

North Pocono Trails Association

Enjoy 10+ miles of woodland trails designed for all levels of experience. Visit this Northern Pocono Mountains site to hike, bike and runs in the Northern Pocono Mountains preserved by this volunteer group.

The D&L Trail offers over 140 miles of improved trails for your exploration, with history lessons along the way. Journey the route where the American Industrial Revolution was catalyzed, while enjoying nature and the environment.
