The final event in EMHR’s Susquehanna County Hikes & Bikes Series will be a FREE and celebratory event on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and held in partnership with the Rail-Trail Council of NEPA! With construction to be completed on the very northern section of the Delaware & Hudson (D&H) Rail-Trail, it’s the perfect time to hold a ribbon cutting celebration and take a beautiful fall foliage ride along Pennsylvania’s 2021 Trail of the Year!
Participants should meet at the Olivia House (126 Rockwell Road) in Susquehanna for a ribbon cutting celebration kick off at 12 pm., which will include volunteers, Rail-Trail Council board members, project contributors, and community members.
At 12 p.m., there will be a two-mile history walk along the trail to Brandt and back for those who would enjoy a comfortable stroll while learning about the surprising history of the area. The bike ride will begin at 1 p.m. and participants will have the option of riding on their own or taking a guided tour with staff from the Rail-Trail Council of NEPA who will talk about the trail improvements, history and other fun facts about the D&H.
Vendors on-site from noon to 3 p.m. at the event will include Chenango Point Cycles, Ray’s Porketta Food Truck, ice cream sandwiches from Susquehanna Scoops, free hot dogs from Schneider’s Market for kids, a bounce house, and more! We will also have live entertainment from local rock band Goodnight Human beginning at 1 p.m.!
Attendance is free, but please register, as we would like an accurate headcount for the event. Register at: www.emheritage.org/events
The Susquehanna County Hikes & Bikes Series has been funded in part by the Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau and Susquehanna County Room Tax
