Pocono Heritage Land Trust presents Natural Places and Open Spaces Walk #27:

Guided by local naturalist and PHLT Board Member Don Miller

Walk Location:  PHLT’s Cranberry Creek Preserves and Paradise Twp.’s Nothstein Preserve

Meeting Location/Directions:  Paradise Twp’s. Paradise Price Preserve Trailhead Kiosk and Parking Area on Henry’s Crossing Road, located off Rt. 390 and Cranberry Creek Road.

Cost:  Walk is FREE with donations accepted to PHLT’s Preserve Stewardship Fund

Walk Description:  Walk is both on and off trail on relatively dry streamside and woodland trails.  Terrain is variable from level open trails to off trail moderate and steeper sloped terrain through upland woodland habitats with views of the Cranberry Creek.  *Access to the small gorge and primary waterfalls area of Cranberry Creek will be dependent on the group size and trail walking conditions.

Additional Notes:  Walk participants should be comfortable for an extended period of time outdoors.  This is a trail walk on two different paths with a carpool from the parking site to the walk start site, so the group is expected to stay together for the duration of the walk.  NO restroom facilities are available at the Preserve area.

Directions:

From Mt. Pocono and Rt. 611 North and West: Travel Rt. 940 South/East to Rt. 390 at the Crescent Inn crossroad in Paradise Valley.  Turn left on Cranberry Road and travel 1 mile to the T-intersection with Henry’s Crossing Road.  Turn left on Henry’s Crossing Road and travel 1 mile across the railroad tracks to the Paradise Price Preserve entrance on the right.

From East Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg and South:  Travel I-80 to Marshalls Creek/Seven Bridges Road Exit, at first traffic light turn left onto North Rt. 447 and travel through Eagle Valley Corners to intersection with Rt. 940 past Analomink (note bridge/tunnel detour signs).  Follow detour on Rt. 447 toward Canadensis (several miles) to Clark Road. Turn left on Clark Road over the Brodhead Creek and continue uphill several miles to the intersection with Henry’s Crossing Road. Turn left on Henry’s Crossing Road and travel about 1 mile to the Paradise Price Preserve entrance on the left just before the railroad tracks.

Walk Duration: Meeting at 1:00, for registration, introduction to the Preserves and carpool to Preserves’ trailhead parking, trail walk from 1:30 to approximately 4:30.
