Pennsylvania Highlands Hike Challenge Group Hike Finale
What to expect:
Join AMC staff for a hike on the PA Highlands Trail Network at Ringing Rocks County Park! Approximately 3 miles, this loop hike will begin and end at the parking lot for the Delaware and Lehigh Trail Ringing Rocks Trailhead (1975 River Road, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972). The terrain is a mix of different grades on hard packed dirt and steeper rocky terrain. This hike will be moderate difficulty, and participants should plan to bring at least one liter of water, and a snack. Participants should also take the necessary measures to protect themselves from ticks while hiking.
This hike will be a celebration and finale of the 2025 PA Highlands Hike Challenge! Those who attend will receive a PA Highlands themed prize. Join us in this final hurrah for the PA Highlands Hike Challenge!
Where is the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail?
The Highlands Trail in Pennsylvania is a connected trail network located in the 1.9 million-acre, 13 county Pennsylvania Highlands region. The 300-mile route spans across southeast Pennsylvania, from the Pennsylvania-Maryland border in Waynesboro to the Delaware River in Easton. The trail co-aligns with several other trails in the region, including rugged, natural surface trails, as well as paved multi-use pathways. Hikers may find themselves walking through dense forests with beautiful vistas, or through urban areas where shops and restaurants are just steps away. Why participate in the Hike Challenge?
First and foremost, this challenge is about getting outside and connecting with community! We highly encourage participants to share their photos and stories on social media with the hashtag #HighlandsTrailChallenge and help inspire others to get out on the trail. The Highlands Region is an important area for land protection, and by hiking the trail, learning about the surrounding landscapes and natural resources, you can help to show support for this key region as we seek to protect open space here.
