BSA “Get Your Tail on the Trail” Patch

Did you and your den just complete the Webelos Walkabout Adventure? Or are you working towards a merit badge like Backpacking, Hiking, or Kayaking? Want to win some cool prizes along the way? Well, you have come to the right place!

By participating in the Get Your Tail on the Trail program, you can log all of those miles towards an extra Get Your Tail on the Trail patch! Simply log 165 miles, the anticipated length of the D&L Trail, and it’s all yours!

What is Get Your Tail on the Trail?

GYTOT is a family fun initiative developed by St. Luke’s University Health Network (St. Luke’s) and the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (D&L). The program encourages Scouts to get out hiking, biking, walking, and running on any trail in the outdoors to promote trails and exercise. Annual challenges like the 165-mile summer challenge and 30 for 30 winter challenge help motivate community members to get outside and active while earning fun prizes! Millions of miles have been logged over the past several years by thousands of participants. Join the fun now!

How do I get involved?

  1. Go to TailontheTrail.org website
  2. Click the “Register” button in the upper right corner of the window.
  3. Complete the registration questions. Under “community organization” select the name of your troop from the list (i.e. Minsi Trail Scout Troop 319). If you don’t see the name of your troop, select “Boy Scouts of America” for now and send an email to tailonthetrail@gmail.com to register your troop! (After you register, you will be able to change your community organization to your scout troop in your dashboard under “edit profile”)
  4. Get outside and on the trail! Walk, Hike, Bike, Kayak. Not sure where to go? Check out the D&L trail map and the LINK Trail Network for some more ideas.
  5. Log your miles in your account every time you use a trail. 165 is the number to hit!
  6. Once you reach 165 miles, send a photo of your dashboard showing your completed challenge to your troop leader and to tailonthetrail@gmail.com to earn your GYTOT patch!
  7. Complete other GYTOT challenges and win free prizes!
