SUMMARY:Hike to Cherry Creek Headwaters
DESCRIPTION:\n\nCherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge\, just outside Strou
 dsburg\, Pa.\, encompasses more than 6\,000 acres – a safe haven for bir
 ds\, reptiles\, amphibians and mammals large and small. Included in that h
 aven are the headwaters of Cherry Creek.\n\nOn Saturday\, Oct. 19\, 2019\,
  Brodhead Watershed Association and the Friends of Cherry Valley will co-h
 ost a hike to this secluded spot folded deep in a wooded\, steep-sided hol
 low.\n\nThe Friends of Cherry Valley\, now headed by Deb Schuler\, over a 
 decade ago embarked on the mission to protect Cherry Valley and its creek.
 \n\nLocal residents\, conservationists and conservation groups united to p
 rotect the valley’s history\, agricultural heritage and natural resource
 s. Now\, it’s the home of 80 threatened and endangered species.\n\nA hik
 er can go a long way and never find anywhere more refreshing than this idy
 llic spot\, brought to you by a community whose idea changed things for go
 od.\n\nIF YOU GO\nThis hike is a partnership between Friends of Cherry Val
 ley and Brodhead Watershed Association. It is a challenging loop hike of a
 bout two miles. Very rocky underfoot and often steep.\n\nWHEN: 10 a.m. to 
 noon Saturday\, Oct. 19\, 2019\n\nWHERE: Cherry Valley. Directions will be
  given upon registration.\n\nCOST: Free\, but registration is required.\n\
