The highlight of this 130 acre natural area is the 2.3 mile Creek Trail, with postcard-worthy views of the creek all along the way leading to beautiful waterfalls, before heading back on the Highland Trail. Roots and rocks are common on the trails, which are wet in many places. Sturdy, appropriate footwear is essential. Leashed dogs welcome.
Starting in the 1930s, when it was Harrison Park and later Toby Park, this land boasted a roller rink, dance hall, swimming pools, steam-operated carousel, penny arcade, and softball fields, all ending with the 1955 flood.
Location: From the I-80 interchange near Blakeslee, take 115 North. After the Tobyhanna Creek Bridge, parking lot is on the left. Note: Two trailheads serve this area, so make sure you use the larger one with a pavilion. GPS coordinates 41º 4’ 59”N 75º 35’ 4” W
