SUMMARY:An Eye for Eagles at ForEvergreen Hike
DESCRIPTION: \n\nHIKE EVENT: An eye for eagles at ForEvergreen in Analomin
k\n\nForEvergreen Nature Preserve in Analomink\, Pa.\, has a trail that’
s barely a mile\, with wide gravel paths and gentle terrain. The views are
pastoral and lovely but not jaw-dropping.\n\nAnd then you see the eagles.
\n\nJoin Brodhead Watershed Association for a naturalist-led\, easy hike o
n Saturday\, April 20\, at ForEvergreen to see the eagles and so much more
.\n\nPhotographers spend hours here\, long lenses at the ready. Walkers\,
runners and dog walkers often stop in their tracks to watch an eagle tendi
ng the nest\, hanging out on a nearby snag\, or perching at the top of the
cell tower.\n\nYet eagles in the spring are only the most obvious joy of
this place. In summer\, you might see flights of bluebirds\, stocky kingfi
shers diving for an aquatic meal\, or turtles sunning themselves on logs i
n the pond. In fall\, the large stand of milkweed is one of the best sites
in Monroe County for Monarch butterflies. Acres of meadow plants left unm
owed provide food and cover for juncos\, titmice and cardinals in winter.\
n\nYear round\, it’s a welcome oasis for nature lovers in Stroud Townshi
p.\n\nIF YOU GO\n\nJoin naturalists and bird experts Jackie and Darryl Spe
icher\, along with Carol Hillestad\, for an easy walk at ForEvergreen Natu
 re Preserve.\n\nWHEN: 10 a.m. Saturday\, April 20\, 2019\n\nWHERE: Analomi
nk\, Pa. Register for directions.\n\nNOTE: Part of the funding for this pr
eserve was provided by Pennsylvania’s Keystone Fund\, which has supporte
d 442 projects in Monroe County since its inception in 1994.\n\nCOST: Free
 \; registration is required.\n\nINFORMATION: Call 570-839-1120 or 570-629-
