SUMMARY:EMHR’s Summer Kickoff Paddle in Susquehanna County
DESCRIPTION:Pack your dry bag for Susquehanna County and join Endless Mount
 ains Heritage Region for\nour first day paddle of the year on June 14\, 20
 26. EMHR is partnering with Susquehanna\nKayak &amp\; Canoe Rentals and En
 dless Mountain Outfitters for a 12-mile paddle down the\nSusquehanna River
  North Branch from Oakland Township to Hallstead in northern\nSusquehanna 
 County. Participants should meet and check in at the Phantom Fireworks of\
 nGreat Bend shopping plaza (25059 US-11\, Hallstead\, PA 18822) by 9 a.m. 
 for registration for\nthe trip. Participants will be shuttled from there t
 o the Oakland Township PA Fish &amp\; Boat\nCommission launch and be brief
 ed on safety.\n\nThe trip will take participants along the “Great Bend
 ” section of the Susquehanna North\nBranch section\, crossing over the s
 ite of the former Oakland Hydroelectric Dam that was\nremoved in the fall 
 of 2023. A lunch stop will be taken during the trip.\nBecause of last year
 ’s cancellation of this event\, this year’s paddle will benefit the\nS
 usquehanna County Conservation District\, who will provide educational pro
 gramming\nduring lunch at the Great Bend PA Fish &amp\; Boat Launch. SCCD 
 was founded in 1947 through\na partnership between the Susquehanna County 
 Commissioners and the State\nConservation Commission. SCCD promotes the su
 stainable use of natural resources\nthrough education\, technical assistan
 ce\, and partnerships that encourage responsible\nstewardship and environm
 ental awareness.\n\nParticipants are encouraged to bring appropriate cloth
 ing and footwear for that day’s\nweather\, sunscreen\, a sufficient supp
 ly of water\, any snacks desired\, and a dry bag to keep\ntheir supplies i
 n.\n\nRegistration cost for the trip will be $60 if you bring your own kay
 ak/canoe. For those who\nneed to rent\, cost for a single kayak rental wil
 l be $50 or $70 for a tandem kayak or canoe\nrental. The registration fee 
 includes the cost of lunch from Red Rock BBQ\, insurance\,\nshuttling\, ed
 ucational programming\, and the donation to the SCCD. Space is limited for
